Welcome to the Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT)

The Institute of Microstructure Technology leads applied research and development programs in the fields of Smart Nanosystems, Microsystems for Life Sciences, Teratronics, Photonics, X-ray Optics and Nanophotonics for Energy. The transfer of our fundamental research to industry-relevant products is a core goal of the institute.

A large variety of on-site fabrication processes, test methods, and state-of-the-art equipment support our research efforts. This technical infrastructure and the know-how of the employees at IMT are made available, cost-free, to external industrial and academic institutions through proposals to the KNMF (Karlsruhe Nano Micro Facility) high-tech platform.

The IMT cooperates closely with the Light Technology Institute and the Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics.
