Welcome to the Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT)

The main task of the Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT) is to accomplish research and development in the fields of microstructure and microsystems technology as well as bordering nanotechnology and sciences in general. Additional emphasis is placed on transferring the results obtained to industrial applications. Our activities are mainly related to the fields of micro-optics and microfluidics which, being closely related to nanobiology, include the development of X-ray optical structures, biophotonic sensors, and miniaturized analytical devices.

The IMT and Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics (IPQ, Campus South) have been merged to one institute. The merger is about strengthening the research activities in the field of micro- and nanotechnologies and taking advantage of synergies.
