Advanced Materials and Optical Spectroscopy (AMOS)

Dr. Ian Howard [Contact]

The AMOS research group, established in 2014, focuses on creating and characterizing optoelectronic materials designed for energy conversion and photonic applications. Optical spectroscopy lies at the heart of our research, with laser labs based around Ti:Sapphire amplifier and oscillator systems allowing us to interrogate our materials with a wide range of experimental techniques. We have a special focus on time-resolved absorption and emission spectroscopies that track dynamic processes from hundreds of femtoseconds to seconds and allow us to understand and improve material function.
