Short description

The Vertex 70 is a fully digital Fourier-transform(FT-IR) spectrometer for obtaining infrared spectra of solid, liquid and gas samples in absorption or transmission mode. MIR-FIR spectrum of a metal complex sample measured in one go from 4000 cm-1 to 130 cm-1 using Platinum diamond ATR and purged VERTEX 70 equipped with the standard MIR source, ultra wide range far-mid IR beamsplitter and room temperature DLaTGS detector at 4 cm-1 spectral resolution.

The data acquisition is based on two channel delta-sigma ADCs with 24-bit dynamic range, which are integrated into the detector preamplifier electronics. This advanced DigiTectTM technology prevents external signal disturbance and guarantees the highest signal-to-noise ratio. With its high sensitivity, stability and temporal resolution the device represents the best example of in its field, Bruker Vertex 70 is an ideal instrument for demanding research offering a wide range of applications. Those are some of them:

a. Purity assessment

b. Base polymer composition

c. additive/contaminant identification

It is also a good technique to analyse the unknown material if you need to know its general type. Platinum-ATR allows the measurements of liquids, powders, thin films. The spectra can be taken as absorbance or transmittance and easily converted one to another within a spectral range of 6,000 cm-1 - 80 cm-1 in a single step measurement. Additional accessories and their exploitation:

a. Specular reflection measurements under the variable angle 5°-85° with Harrick "Auto-Seagull" module

b. Diffuse reflection measurements with a gold-coated integration sphere

Important rules

The device should always be on. Take notice of three signals on the left side of device cover. They should be green. If at least one is red, you can not start working.

The chamber should be always purged with nitrogen. Before usage, check the nitrogen flow (100-150 ml/min)via rotameter. Otherwise, your measurements will show water/carbon dioxide peaks.

When measuring powder or thin film, one makes sure that diamond crystal is cleaned after you are done with the work. Even if it requires bringing solvent from other lab.
