Ultimaker 2

Name of device: Ultimaker 2

Responsible for device: Marcel Gültig, Hinnerk Oßmer

Location: B301, R211

Short Description

3D-printer Using fused filament fabrication (plastic extrusion) structural elements that were designed digitally can be printed usind polymers. He printer creates the components out of up to 20µm thin layers. The total dimensions of the components must not exceed 223x223x205mm. Larger elements have to be put together out of smaller segments.

Fused Filament Fabrication

Printing with fused filament fabrication polymers are melted and extruded through a nozzle(Ultimaker 2: Diameter 0.25-0.8mm; Temperature 180-260°C) and applied in layers. Most widely-spread method of 3D-printing.

Polymers

These polymers can be used with Ultimaker 2:

  • PLA (Polyactide)
  • ABS (Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol)
  • CPE (chlorinated Polyethylen)

Limitations

Maximum dimensions of component: 223x223x205mm
