Mechanical Workshop

The institute's mechanical workshop supports scientists with the (micro)machining and manufacture of challenging mechanical components like e.g. mold inserts for hot embossing or experimental set-ups. All relevant machine tools are available. Three tools out of the machinery shall be mentioned in particular:

  • Geibel & Hotz FS 420 SD surface grinding machine
  • Mitsubishi DWC 90 SZ for high precision wire eroding
  • Chmer G32 S wire-EDM with thin wire 100µm
  • LT Ultra MMC 600 2Z for fly-cutting and ultra precision milling
